Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco - is a Canadian and American musician and singer. She has released more than 20 albums. DiFranco's songs are classified as folk and alternative rock. They also have influences from hip hop music, jazz, and punk. Ani Difranco has been deemed as a feminist icon and a Grammy award-winning. As one of women's first artists of the 1990s, DiFranco created her own label. DiFranco has two daughters: Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They were introduced in their school, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was Italian origin and her mother came born in Montreal. Ani Difrasco wrote and sang the song "32 Flavors". The song is featured on her album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. Another version of the track is included on the film soundtrack for the 1999 Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it was announced that she planned to host a three day workshop at the Louisiana slave plantation. It was called off, but many (including the media) did not see it as a sign of regret. DiFranco released a second apology a couple of days following the first. Although she is known for her role as the Little Folksinger her songs have embraced a variety of genres and collaborators ranging from Pete Seeger to Chuck D to Prince. DiFranco graduated from her Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school in the year 16 and began attending classes at Buffalo State College. Ani's customized Alvarez baritone was the result of numerous consultations with Chrys Johnson who was the representative for artist Alvarez. There she lives with her husband, two children and her long-legged pet Lefty. DiFranco states that she's not sure to the thought of looking at her career in retrospect, even though it's been more than three years. Ani DiFranco rose to famous status as a singer/songwriter and punk/folk artist at 25, both in the eyes of both fans and critics with Not A Pretty Girl. The pop-rock hit song from 1972, Brandy (You're a fine girl) was written by the American band Looking Glass for their debut album Looking Glass.
